    Hi, i wish to take the exam in a few days. I tried both the dumps from kevin and blue, only thing i found strange is both of these had a ,ot of questions from X, but in objectives i didnt find X in 101, instead it is in 102. Am i correct or i really need to work on X for 101 ? Please respond ASAP as my scheduled exam is nearing. Thanks for your concern in advance.

    100% – 800/800 – yesterday
    It’s like DasGoat said.
    First you must master CompTIA.ActualTests.LX0-101.v2010-12-04.by.neotokyo.210q;
    Second – move on LPI.Lead2Pass.117-101.v2012-12-28.by.Blue.287q;
    Third – LPI.PracticeTest.117-101.v2013-05-09.by.kevin.287q.
    Now… I want to make something clear, there is no such thing as an 100% valid dump, because if you were a certification authority you would change questions once in a while just to ensure that the applicants really learn and really deserve that certification. But if you learn the material on IBM developer works and you use those three dumps to test yourself and make sure that you understand all the concepts and information present in the study material, I guarantee you’ll pass.
    What I can tell that is new and not present in the dump:
    One question about grub’s timeout – the valid answer is seconds
    One multiple choice question about fstab addressing partitions other than by the “dev” name(e.g. /dev/hda1, /dev/sda2, etc), and the answer is by UUID and by LABEL.
    Note also that there are questions that are a liitle bit changed than the ones in the dump, something like: “What is the command that will overwrite the file ‘baaz’?”. In the dump instead of “overwrite” is “append”. So if you know your piping and your redirecting there is no problem. You just have to read carefully the question.
    One last word before you will enroll in the exam – read this carefully: https://www.lpi.org/linux-certifications/partnership-programs/comptia
    (only if I knew before enrolling!)
    You will thank me!

    Passed for this exam. Just this dump and the exam kit from transcender. Transcender doesn’t provide the correct material as most of the RPM is missing, in this dump RPM is included. I passed 800 out of 800 last tuesday in Amsterdam

  • DasGoat from United States – Jul 12 2013, 6:26 PM Report Spam

    OK everyone, I just passed with 730 out of 800, or 91.25%, or 5.25 incorrect answers. After playing with several of the practice exams, here is what I think it the best way to pass.
    Start with this dump from neotokyo:
    This seems to be where the Blue and Kevin dumps came from but unlike those, it contains explanations for incorrect answers. VERY helpful! I don’t know why the Blue and Kevin dumps didn’t include those.
    When you have mastered that dump, move on to the Blue dump:
    Here you will get another 76 questions, and YES, some of these newer question were on my exam. You should also note a few mistakes in the Blue exam. If you want, move on to Kevin’s dump, but I didn’t see any real difference from the Blue dump.
  • DasGoat from United States – Jul 12 2013, 6:26 PM Report Spam

    Now, according to my report, I must have missed six questions. I only saw two really new questions: one about the grub timeout being in seconds, tenths, or milliseconds. I picked milliseconds, but I don’t know if that is correct. I can’t remember the other one, but it wasn’t exotic and you should be able to figure it out if you have been studying.
    What I did notice is that several questions had some minor variable changed, but the rest of the question and answer was left alone. For example, the dumps ask “Which symbol will send the output of some command to the end of myfile.txt adding it to the end of the file.” Which the answer is >>. But the test actually asked “Which symbol will send the output of some command to the end of myfile.txt overwriting the file.” Which is >. There were at least 3 of these that seem to just be checking if you have memorized the answers or if you actually know them, so be careful.
    I’m not sure which six questions I got wrong. It could have been some of those where they changed something. Or it might have just been version differences. The dumps say that yum update is the correct way to upgrade a RPM system, but the report says I got that one wrong. Checking the internet, fedora at least has been using yum fedora-upgrade until version 17, and has a new tool since version 18 called FedUp. So is the dump wrong or has the test been updated? Who knows for sure?
    Bottom line is 91.25% is a very respectable score. Do the dumps in the order I suggest and study by doing things in a virtual environment for all four major distributions and you should do fine.
    Good luck! I am off to work on part 2.

    One was something like “What signal is sent to a suspended process to resume it’s execution”
